You’ve probably heard —New Super Mario Bros. Wiiis supposedly difficult. But don’t worry, since we have the Internet and access to videogame Web sites, blogs, and message boards, we’re all experts. Even the game’s toughest levels simply won’t be a problem. We’re that good, right? But what if, for some inexplicable reason, we can’t pass a level? That’s where “Super Guide” comes into play — it’sNew Super Mario Bros. Wii‘s hand-holding mode that you’ll only need if you really suck at videogames....

Capcom Japan released a new game play video ofTatsunoko VS Capcom, their upcoming Japan-only Wii brawler. In this video, Saki andJoeof Capcom go up against Ippatsuman and Doronjo of Tatsunoko, and it’s clear who has the upper hand. The best part of this game play video is when Viewitiful Joe gets the spotlight. Joe’s super move is hilarious. Watch on as the Tatsunoko team hops on their tandem bike to get the hell away from Joe’s destructive attack....

This past Thursday, I got a quick hands-on withCodemasters’Jumpgate Evolutionfor the PC, a MMOG set in space. My hands-on time consisted of my low level ship shooting down six enemy ships and, well, that’s it. I don’t play MMOGs so I had no idea what I was doing.Jumpgateis something I would really want to get into though, since it’s in a Sci-Fi setting. Plus, thatwholeEVEincidentreally perked my interest to this type of online game....

We’re a little excited about the upcoming release ofNinjatown DSaround here, as you may have guessed from our pimpNinjatown lunchbox giveaway. If you are still unconvinced that ninja strategy sounds like fun, you can check out a demo of the game over on the Nintendo Channel. The demo lets you check out the first six maps of the game (there are 36 in the full version), fight some Wee Devils and check out abilities....

Despite rumors andspeculationsurrounding a possible 2D bounty-hunter adventure calledMetroid Dread, Nintendo has other plans. Take not making a 2DMetroidgame, for instance. How’s that for a good plan? Straight and to the point, fromComputer and Video Games: “Nintendo is not making the 2D Metroid at this point in time,” Nintendo told CVG. Oh, good. That’s great. Well, at least that’ll free up Nintendo’s devs to spend some quality time making the games gamers want to play....

In case you happen to live somewhere near the NYC area, here’s a little info that you may want to know in case you plan on picking up a PlayStation 3 at launch. Let’s start with Best Buy: The future of gaming begins as the highly anticipated PlayStation3 launches on Nov. 17. Best Buy stores nationwide will open early at 8 a.m. including a special Midnight openings at the Best Buy store in Midtown and NoHo....

If you’ve been following my intrepid coverage of the situation in Germany (I’ve appointed myself Destructoid’s German correspondent on weekends) then you know that the German government is attempting to ban the sale and production of violent videogames in Germany. The law would put a major damper on Crytek’s ability to produce games, not to mention it hampering that pesky thing called free speech. If you haven’t been following my coverage thencatch up, Germany and I will wait....

Over 87 million visitors hit online gaming sites in May, which is up 22 percent from last year. Where are they playing? Sites like EA Online and Nickelodeon Casual Games, or the biggest, Yahoo! Games, which saw 19.4 million visitors in May. “Online gaming continues to be one of the top gaining categories over the past year, growing at ten times the rate of the total US internet population and reaching nearly one out of every two internet users,” said Edward Hunter, comScore, publisher of this data....

I love both of my portable game systems dearly. The PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS both have their pluses and minuses, but one of the two manages to go with me wherever I go. I would’ve never imagined that these two prized possessions of mine would take a back seat to another portable, but I’m already sold on the Pandora. Pandorais an open-source portable videogame system, much like theGP2X. According togalagabug’s Destructoid Community Blog, this little number can do full PSOne emulation without hiccuping, and Nintendo 64 emulation is also a possiblity....
