Final Fantasy VII is the most popular PSP download

It’s simply amazing that a game could, after more then a decade, be topping the charts in the HD generation, but that’s the power ofFinal Fantasy VII. Despite what many purists say, this classic is the pinnacle ofFinal Fantasyand RPGs for millions of users, as evidenced by the fact that the downloadable version is the PSP’s most popular digital purchase of 2010 thus far. First gameplay video of A Boy and His Blob Wii remake

A note to developers:thisis how you remake a classic 2D NES game on current-generation consoles.Just a couple days ago, it wasrevealedthat a remake ofA Boy and His Blobwould be hitting the Wii sometime in the future. Now, two new gameplay videos of the game have just been revealed courtesy ofIGN. (Pause for dramatic effect.) And they look absolutely gorgeous!I don’t even know where to begin! I love the design of the two main characters, I love the hand-drawn art style, and Iespeciallylove how it looks like players won’t have to memorize what each flavor of jelly bean does anymore, care of the video’s featured jelly bean-selection-wheel-of-death (that’s what I am officially calling it)....

First localized screens from 3D Dot Game Heroes

We here at Destructoid are jazzed about3D Dot Game Heroes. We were hoping for a localization when we first heard of it, and Atlus came through for us. They also came through today with the first batch of localized screenshots today. I’m glad to see that they’re hard at work on the game, which is still set for a May 11th release on the PS3 for $39.99. Part of the game they’ve kind of put together for us is to have people guess what other games are being parodied in the screenshots they send along....

Foto Showdown is all bout the monsters and the fighting

Foto Showdownis an interesting concept if nothing else, and seems to actually be using the DSi’s cameras in a good way. We’ve heard very little about the game though, but Konami has now revealed two knew walkthroughs that tell us exactly how it works. Basically it’s the concept ofPokemon(collecting monsters) with the concept ofPokemon Snap!(taking pictures). The top video explains how the pictures collect the creatures and how you can get more and more powerful ones....

Friday Night Fights: I’m Commander Shepard edition

“I’m Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite store on the Citadel.” I predict that by next week, you’ll be so tired of hearing that statement from overuse on the Internet, you won’t playMass Effect 2anymore. Oh wait, yes you will — no one can resist its charms. This game is the anti-Friday Night Fights, that’s for damn sure. Which is kind of a shame, consideringMAGonly just came out this week, and theBattlefield: Bad Company 2PC beta and Xbox 360 multiplayer demo are both brand new too....

Future PS3 firmware update to add Facebook support

In the most recentofficial PlayStation blog post, SCEA teased future additions that build on what Microsoft plans to unleash upon its Xbox LIVE masses tomorrow. The next big PS3 firmware update — v3.10 — is adding Facebook support to the service’s list of free features, allowing users to connect their respective profiles and stream Trophy and PS Store information to their Facebook accounts. If that wasn’t enough, the update is to also provide hooks to developers so they can offer their own special updates to a connected user’s Facebook News Feed....

GC 10: Halo: Reach preview and Master Chief?s fursona

Brian Jarrard, Bungie community manager and executive producer of theHalocomics, showed meHalo: Reachthis morning. AsHalo: Reachis Bungie’s lastHalogame, they want this to be the very bestHalogame it can be. After three games, we already knew that teh Master Chief is a pretty cool guy who doesn’t afraid of anything, so it’s nice that Noble Team will be the headliners for this one. The demo started with a video mission brief for a mass-scale ground and air assault on a Covenant battle group....

GDC 08: Hands-on with Fez

Oh my God, YES! After mynear orgasmic post yesterdayconcerning the hardcorecrush(pun intended) I have on indie gameFezI finally got a chance to play it here at GDC! Fezseeks to expand on the already cool 2D/3D transitional gameplay of games likeSuper Paper MarioandCrushby allowing the player even more control over the revolutionary perspective switching mechanic. With a niceCave Story-esque retro look, the game rocketed to the top of my must-play list after only seeing yesterday’s short, hardly revealing video....

Alex’s mixtape project is called Gold N’ Fly: 007 and takes inspiration from Team Teamwork’s recent videogame mashups. Goozex going retro, adds six thousand games to service

I loves me some Goozex. The game trading service has treated me very well over the last couple of years, allowing me to get a hold of some games that I missed out on (or just didn’t want to pay retail for). But now? Things are going to get interesting. Goozex has updated to allow users to trade games from retro consoles in addition to their already excellent service. The supported consoles are as follows:...

Gran Turismo Anywhere update coming next month

If you’re somehow bored of real racing with real controls, you can go intoGran Turismo 5‘s B-Spec mode and tell another driver what to do. Exciting, right? While B-Spec mode may not be the best choice when you’re actually in front of your PS3 and controller, I think it would kick ass from a web browser while at work. A tweet from Polyphony Digital head man Kazunori Yamauchi says that the Anywhere feature should be coming in February, and that it should be included with the next game update....
