It should come as no surprise to anybody that Nintendo, along with the other platform holders, is already thinking of the next generation. Nintendo president Satoru Iwatahas confirmedthat a Wii successor is in production as we speak. Iwata added, however, that current plans aren’t necessarily indicative of what the future may hold for Nintendo’s hardware. “The hardware team started work on the next thing as soon as they were done with their previous project, but what they think up doesn’t necessarily become a product,” explained the Nintendo boss....

As explained in the release, it appears as thoughPlanet Minigolfwon’t stray too far from modern arcade golf conventions: the campaign component will feature cartoony visuals, “unusual hazards,” zany obstacles, “interactive objects,” 144 holes and six customizable characters....

With all the rumors and leaked documents floating around the Internet, a PlayStation Phone announcement seems imminent. A few of us at Destructoid think it’s a ludicrous idea that will try to corner two audiences and appeal to neither, and we’re not alone. Analyst Nick Gibson thinks it’s a poor move, too. “With PSP2 SDKs currently being deployed to developers and PSP still selling at surprisingly robust levels (given the miniscule size of ongoing PSP software sales), the PlayStation Phone concept is something of an enigma,” says the Games Investor analyst....

I still don’t know exactly what the hell is going on in this upcoming Square Enix DS RPG, but I know I want it. I see sprite-y dudes fighting huge polygonal beasts and I’m sold. Apparently the people of this game’s world lived on the backs of these beasts until they woke up one day.Like I said before, it’s looks like a cross betweenFinal FantasyandShadow of the Colossus, and that’s totally cool with me....
