Sony announcing 18 new PS Vita games at TGS

It looks like Sony wasn’t kidding when it said it was focusing on bringing a strong lineup together for the PlayStation Vita. In addition to the titles already revealed for the system, Sony has a further eighteen mystery games, all of which will be shown at the Tokyo Game Show. A total of 31 games are getting shown by the company, including thirteen previously announced Vita games, nineteen PS3 games (including multiplatform titles) and five PSP offerings....

Sony confirmed as Killzone fanboys, thinks game will fare better than MGS4

(Disclaimer:Article may or may not be an excuse to post more sillyKillzoneheaders) Sony is certainly hoping that orange-eyed FPSKillzone 2will make them some bank this year, and the promotion wheels are starting to turn with ever-increasing speed. The publisher has recently madean optimistic claim, suggesting that its Space Nazi romp will do better than last year’s high profile exclusive,Metal Gear Solid 4. Thosebastards. “It would be a lie to say Sony has not invested heavily inKillzone 2and each individual at Guerrilla games has worked even harder to satisfy any expectations kept by the company and their loyal community,” said a Sony rep, somehow thinking that we’re not used to a publisher lying....

Sony lends 2K a helping hand with BioShock for the PS3

Thanks to a recent announcement by Sony regarding the PS3’s upcoming version ofBioShock, it seems as if future fans of the game (along with those of us destined to buy it all over again) can rest easy knowing that the tools are set in place for a smooth conversion from the Xbox 360/PC original. Sony is still carefully opting out of divulging information regarding what new perks PS3 owners can expect from the game, but they were quick to point out that the 2K teams (Boston, Marin, and Australia) are not going it alone on this one....

Sony: 3D could make you a little bit better at games

I have come to the conclusion that those publishers attempting to peddle 3D gaming to the masses are no starting to come across as snake oil salesmen. So it is that Sony has added another miracle cure to 3D’s list of extraordinary powers — it could make youslightly betterat videogames! “If you’re playing a racing game and you’re getting some additional [3D] information you may actually measure distances with your eyes, making it easier to judge breaking,” claims Sony’s Simon Benson....

Splatterhouse trailer blends beauty and pain

I really wantSplatterhouseto be a good remake. With so many series getting the reboot treatment these days, it’s getting to the point where I’m worried we’ll all become jaded at the prospect, especially if there winds up being a glut of poorly produced updates. This trailer gives me a little bit of hope. Rick’s animations look really beautiful but, then, just about everything does in slow-motion. The latter bits at the end show more of what actual gameplay is going to look like, albeit in short bursts that don’t offer up too much in the way of information....

Square Enix reveals Heroes of Ruin for 3DS, then hides it

Late last week, Square Enix pulled a bait and switch in the form of a 3DS game tease. The publisher posted some pretty cool artwork to Facebook, then sneakily removed it. This is the Internet, however, so naturally everybody’s found out about it regardless. From what’s known, the game is calledHeroes of Ruinand it’s a joint effort between Square Enix and n-Space. The phrase, “Join the fun. More soon,” accompanied the art, but of course that tells us bugger-all....

Tanooki tails are all the rage in Super Mario 3D Land

Super Mario 3D Landis a hybrid sort of affair that has beautifully merged the gameplay style of a 3DMariogame into the style of an old schoolMario-like adventure. The levels are open, open enough to make it seem like you’ll be exploring a lot, but are pretty self contained for quick on the go fun. This time, Bowser has somehow unleashed Tanooki leafs all over the Mushroom Kingdom. Now everything has a Tanooki tail, everything from trees to Goombas....

TGS 09: Blow sh*t up real good in Battlefield: BC2

At EA’s pre-TGS press event we saw a bit more ofBattlefield: Bad Company 2,including a good look at a newly revealed desert-based map. There were explosions-a-plenty in this new map, thanks DICE’s new “Frostbite” engine. In one example, a helicopter totally leveled a building with missiles, and the whole thing crumbled fantastically. Frostbite also scales down from mass destruction to fine detail. Gunfire can chip away at blockades and cover points....

TGS: Ni no Kuni PS3 is what Ghibli fans want

Ni no Kunidoes for Ghibli movies whatUncharted 2andGod of War 3do for American action films. The game is a first class anime that you can play. All of the backgrounds are coated in beautiful, watercolor-style textures, and the games characters are masterfully cel shaded. Where the game really got me was the character animation. It’s so subtle, yet so masterfully crafted. The most evocative moments from Studio Ghibli films often come from those quiet, seeming inconsequential events that somehow work to make the animated world on screen feel completely real....
