Gizmodo hates 360 movie store too

Looks like the raping of more than a few people is taking place with the new Microsoft Movie Marketplace service. What’s worse, is that these problems are happening to the worst people Microsoft could piss off — pseudo-journalists with huge audiences. Besides my owntroubles, the peeps atGizmodogot completely pwned. Here are a few good words of wisdom from the site before you go droppin’ points on anything: Speeds Should Get Better…Maybe: The system is getting hammered, and downloads are going slug-slow, or failing all together....

God of War III gets angry new screenshots

God of War IIIis out this March, and Sony is finally starting to put some marketing behind it. Seriously, the lack of trailers, screens or news surrounding such a hot PS3 exclusive has been kind of weird, hasn’t it? This time last year we couldn’t move forKillzone 2stuff. Anyway, here are some new screens. Rawr! It must be said that the game is pretty damn amazing looking, but it’s a PS3 exclusive, so you already knew that....

Going back to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories interview

Ah, Silent Hill. We’vejoked about it, gottenhands on time with it, andspeculated aboutwhat we think a “reimagining” of one of the most classic survival horror games of all time could be like. After all, whetherShattered Memoriesis a straight remake or a completely different story using a familiar character, Silent Hill fans are notoriously hard to please (and I say this out of personal experience). We got a chance at E3 to meet with Ray Hiyoshi, Konami’s Product Manager, to find a out a bit more about what makesShattered Memoriestick, including why the team chose to focus on escape rather than combat, what they’re going for with the idea of a reimagining, and why we’re going to be scared to death when we can finally get our hands on it later this year....

Good heavens, that new Black Wii box is turning me on

I don’t know if I am just conditioned to the pure white, goody two shoes look of the white Wii or what, but somehow looking at this box I found onCNETmakes me feel … sexier. More inclined to want to turn the console on. Hell, I’d even play something with a bit of waggle. And you know how I feel about that. We’ve known about the black Wiifor a while now, and there’s nothing unexpected about the way the box looks — it’s the exact white box, but in black instead....

Gran Turismo 5 demo: Am I doing it wrong?

Sony was kind enough to send me theGran Turismo 5demo, what the call they Time Trial Challenge, a few days early, so that I might play it and talk about it. So I did play it, and I enjoyed it. I’ve been trying to beat my initial time, but I’m afraid I suck. I’ll continue on, watching my ranking fall as it goes live for you all later today. I was going to write about it, but there’s really not that much to say....

GRIN in trouble, more office closures

GRIN could be in bigger trouble than we thought. According to a Swedish report released in June, the studio has closed its Gothenburg and Barcelona offices. The Stockholm office isn’t faring much better.Gamasutrahas learned that employees of that office have been told to stop coming to work. These events follow reports of layoffs earlier this year. The studio experienced a meteoric rise and fall, capturing attention with two splendid PC ports ofGhost Recon Advanced Warfighter, then possibly losing it all with some shabbily constructed games likeBionic Commando,Wanted: Weapons of FateandTerminator: Salvation....

Guild Wars 2 not happening until 2010 or 2011

I dislike monthly subscriptions. I would relinquish my soul to Mythic’sWarhammer Onlineor Blizzard’sWorld of Warcraftif I didn’t have to forsake my wallet in exchange. NCsoft’s aging titleGuild Warsis different. It’s a big budget title that doesn’t kill its players with periodic money grabbing. The sequel to the game — aptly titledGuild Wars 2— will be built much the same. Unfortunately, it appears that fans hungry for the fresh take will have to wait at least another year before they can get their MMO on....

Hands-on with Homefront’s multiplayer

There’s been much buzz and hype building up around THQ’sHomefront. The doomsday futuristic setting sees the United States being invaded by the new superpower of the Greater Korea Republic. While I have yet to experience thesingle-player campaign, I did at least get my hands on the multiplayer, which takes place a couple of years before the main game’s setting. The build THQ was showing off was in a pre-alpha state, and what I saw is far from what we can expect the final product to be come March 2011....

Here come some Mega Man art books

Udon is putting out an “Official Complete Works” book for theMega Man Battle Networkseries. It shall be glorious. As a lifelong Mega Man fan, I can fully endorse these books. Udon has put out three of them so far (one for OGMega Man, one forMega Man X, and one forMega Man Zero) and they’ve all been awesome, particularly the OGMega Manedition. It was there that I learned that Mega Man was originally called Rainbow Battle Miracle Kid....

HMV says MGS4 360 listing was a mistake, sorry they ’caused such a stir’

Not surprisingly, retailer HMV has admitted that an online pre-order listing forMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriotsfor the Xbox 360 was a mistake by its online team. It seems the error was due to an employee who displayed so much “enthusiasm” that he couldn’t help himself from listing the title, even going as far as to make up a fictitious release date. What he actually meant to do, an HMV spokesperson toldGamesIndustry....

Hudson’s Wii game Calling goes so gold it’s scary

Hudson has announced that its upcoming survival horror Wii-exclusive,Calling, has gone gold. That means that the game’s scheduled ship date March 9 is locked, and you’ll want to sock away $39.99 to pick it up. Our own Jim Sterling had an early look at thegame recently, and although he didn’t let on, it scared the piss out of him. Like, straight up scared him until he wet his pants. Dealing with a crying, frightened Jim Sterling isnotin my job description, but someone had to calm him down so he could get his preview finished....
