It’s about the players, and the community. For anyone that actually attended the event, I have to imagine this footage is bittersweet. It came across that way to me as someone who wasn’t there in person, although to be honest, I was mostly just hoping the guy with the salt-shaker sign would make a cameo....

Joy Rideis one of those games we’ve seen a few glimpses of here and there, but none of its appearances have ever been substantial. Even so, the concept of a free-to-play arcade-style racer that is supported through microtransactions and allows you to use your Xbox Avatar always seemed like a good one. Not much to say about these latest screenshots Rockstar sent over. There’s some new areas shown and we see some new characters. That’s about it. I find it odd that Rockstar would send these over so soon after thenew trailer. I’m too used to Rockstar showing something epic and then not saying a damn thing for the couple of months. Hopefully they keep this up and reveal as much as they can until the release....

Man, wouldn’t that be nice? A portable game system with near-HD visuals? We’ll have to wait until next week to see the real thing, but the rumor is that Nintendo’s upcoming portable will have processing power that even exceeds Nintendo’s most powerful console. In IGN’sEverything We Know About the 3DSround-up they say: Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360....

DearAmazon.com, wanna make out? After the debacle that wasAmazon’s $100 Xbox 360 Core System sale, I feltEXTREMELYfortunate to be one of the people who picked one up. With literally millions trying for only 1,000 consoles, I totally lucked out, and had to giggle to myself when considering the fact that I already had a 360, and was buying the new one as a gift. While the genre has evolved fairly steadily since its inception, I find that the user base is split into three major demographics: the old guard of history wonks and simulation junkies (let’s call them simulationists); a second, younger generation whose obsession is digging through abstract rules systems and breaking them (we’ll call them gamists); and a third, newer generation, whose interest in the tactical aspect of the game is secondary to other parts of the game such as narrative (the narrativists)....
