The latest Media Create data shows that Sony’s PlayStation Portable still tops sales charts in Japan. Sony seems to be enjoying continued success from thepopularity of Square-Enix’sCrisis Coreas well as from the recent console redesign. The Xbox 360 is getting noticed, but not necessarily “making waves.” Over 100,000 PSPs were sold in Japan last week, which is down from the almost 280,000 sold the week before (the same week thatCrisis Coresold about a half a million copies), but still well above sales numbers of weeks before the redesign....

Can you imagine Sora carving up enemies with a chainsaw while Donald and Goofy tote shotguns and throw Minnie Mouse on the floor before giving her the taste of arealman? While you and I may debate which console is more powerful/easiest to develop for, the true voice of reason is the programmers and such who are on the front lines of this next-gen war. We should be listening to the people who actually make these things, not play them. So if a developer, such as Julian Eggebrecht, president ofLairdeveloper Factor 5, says tings like the PlayStation 3 has “limitless power” or “If you create first on the PS3, it is pretty easy to port it to the 360,” then we should be paying attention....

Sony has announced today that an upcoming PlayStation 3 software update (v2.20, scheduled for late March) will add Blu-ray Profile 2.0 (or BD-LIVE) support. The update will also include support for copying photo and music playlists from the PS3 to the PlayStation Portable, and more. In PR speak, BD-LIVE enables an entirely new layer of interactivity between the film and the viewer, and offers up a variety of extras including bonus scenes, shorts, trailers, subtitles, ringtones that can be sent to mobile phones, images, and more....

I don’t get the use of Mario’s image on this hallucinogen known asBromo-Dragon-FLY, as shown above. Are those that want/use the sheets looking for clever marketing. Too many puzzle games, so little time. It’s been awhile since I’ve played Q Entertainment’s Xbox Live Arcade version ofMeteos Wars, but I’m thinking about jumping back in. Today, Q Entertainment announced the game’s second bit ofdownloadable content, ‘Galaxy Pack.’ The DLC adds nine new planets to the base game. If you’re a fan of the Nintendo DS version, the content should be familiar: all but two of the additions are new to the series....

Microsoft and Sony were both recently accused of short supplying their own motion gimmicks to retailers in order to manufacture hype and demand.
