The mainstream media is slowly becoming less prone to treating videogames like a taboo. Case in point, 35 year war journalism veteran Tony Maniaty, and his plans to create a training/entertainment videogame about being a tele-journalist in a war zone. The game is calledWarco, and its currently in the planning and funds-gathering stage of development. Mr Maniaty, who has worked as a war-based correspondent since the Timor Civil War in 1975, states that he was inspired to create the game after watching his son’s playFar Cry 2....

A great little weekend story, this. A man who recently held aHalf-Life 2-inspired Halloween party isgiving away his setpieces, which were based on the classic Ravenholm chapter of Valve’s masterwork. As you can see, sawblades, a headcrab rocket and some superb looking ammo crates could be yours. Now all you need are the muffled screams of alien zombie slaves to have your very own Ravenholm. If you live in Minneapolis, you can find him on Craiglist and nab these props....

While nothing, in my opinion, can beat the originalWild Armstitle, the second series title is no slouch. It’s been a long while since I’ve played the PlayStation role-playing game, but from the looks of a recent ESRB rating, it looks like I’ll have a chance to revisit the west once again. Wild Arms 2was re-rated by the ESRB, now as a PlayStation 3 and PSP game. You know what that means: a PlayStation Archives title....

Apple was ballsy enough to hold their yearly Worldwide Developers Conference opposite E3. I mean, they’re Apple — they can do whatever they want and they’re still going to rake in the money. And with the announcement of iOS 5, the next version of the OS for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, they’re sure to get a bunch of people breaking down and buying an iDevice, since it fixes a lot of minor problems, like notifications....

Ace Combat comes to the PSP in Joint Assault, which has nothing with the breaking of kneecaps or anything. This is the airplane game. There’s 40 licensed aircraft that you’ll be able to fly over places like Tokyo, San Francisco, London and more. Dogfighting is what you’ll mostly do, and that extends to both ad hoc and infrastructure multiplayer. They call it Joint Assault as you’re able to team up with three friends and take on enemies in campaign mode....

Even if you’re not an Achievement whore, you may have heard whispers of a rare online Achievement for EA Sports’NBA Live 07. One of the game’s 15 Achievements offers a sizable reward — 100 Gamerscore — for being online when at least a total of 1,000 players are online. Thanks to the annual nature of most sports franchises, there typically aren’t very many people playing a sports sim online more than a year from its release — let alone three years after the fact....

Funcom and Eidos have announced thatAge of Conan: Hyborian Adventures,the MMO based off of the Robert E. Howard Conan novels, has been given a new release date. Originally slated for an October 2007 release, the game is now set to drop on June 28, 2025. Despite praise and awards from sites like IGN and GameSpot, the team still feels like it lacks the polish that will lure players away from those “other” MMOs....

This past weekend we warned you about agame-breaking glitchin the brilliantAssassin’s Creed 2that could see an entire save get ruined by players who chose to quit the game at a certain point. The good news is that Ubisoft Montreal has acknowledged the bug, and isworking on a patchto rescue those players trapped in hideout limbo for all eternity. That is just one of the many bugs that this upcoming patch will fix, since apparently there were plenty....

We’ve been patiently waiting for Atlus to announce the DS gameStrange Journey. The next in the line ofShin Megami Tenseigames looks…well, strange, and we dig that in Atlus games. It just came out in Japan last month, so hats off to Atlus for working on this so quickly. For those that missed theearlier talk on the game, it’s a sci-fi first-person role-playing game that has you exploring a hole that opened up in from the bottom of our planet....

In this latest trailer forGod of War: Chains of Olympus, we see Kratos go C-C-C-COMBO CRAZY! Nothing too new is really shown, except for one of Krato’s new abilities. You’ll notice at two points in the trailer that a firey spirit that looks like a Minotaur comes out of Kratos and slams the ground. It’s hard to tell if this is a new magic ability, or a new ability associated with the Blades of Chaos....
