Origin recently opened up pre-orders forStar Wars: The Old Republicon its proprietary digital service Origin. Well … that’s what you mightthinkat first glance. What’sactuallyhappening is that it’s opened up pre-orders forpre-orders, and can’t guarantee you’ll get what you want to reserve.

The main bone of contention seems to be with the Collector’s Edition, which is being used as a pre-order incentive on Origin. Unfortunately, those whodopre-order through Origin may not receive the thing, and are instead being put in a queue for achanceto get it. Naturally, some customers are wondering why they have to do this, especially on EA’s proprietary service.

It’s possible EA is trying to really make the “Limited” part of “Limited Edition” mean something, but you’d think thatlimitingit to pre-orders would do the trick.

An image is circulating online with a suitably sarcastic summary of events: “I’m waiting in a DIGITAL line to MAYBE pay to receive a PRE-ORDER of a DIGITAL product.”
