Wealready knewthatOmega Five(800 Microsoft Points) was coming to Live Arcade this week, but the deal has been sweetened:Tron(400 Microsoft Points) will also be released on Wednesday.

The side-scrolling shmupOmega Fivemakes me wish that more original games were available on XBLA, rather than rehash after rehash. It has refreshing visuals, multiple characters, and best of all, an old-school mode that is extremely unforgiving in the health department (thinkGhosts ‘N Goblins). The one thing this game doesn’t have going for it is co-op, as it’s offline only.

Tronhas been ported to XBLA, with a few new additions. First off, 2-player co-op and versus modes have been included (splitscreen and online), something that didn’t exist in the original arcade version of the game. Besides that, the audio forTronhas been improved to “CD-quality sound.” Bleeps and bloops never sounded so amazing!

Omega Fiveis satisfying enough for me. How about the rest of you?
