The NPD Group and Gamasutra haveteamed up to revealthe top five best-selling games for the three major consoles. While there are still a reasonable amount of big-budget titles on the horizon, it’s interesting to see which games have been the most popular with consumers thus far.
For the PlayStation 3, the top sellers wereGrand Theft Auto IV,Metal Gear Solid 4,Call of Duty 4,Madden NFL 09, andGran Turismo 5: Prologue. Nothing too out of the ordinary, if you ask me.
Similarly,GTA IVwas the highest selling Xbox 360 title, followed byCoD 4,Madden NFL 09,Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, and finallyArmy of Two. It’s surprising to see how wellArmy of Twoperformed, but then again, a good marketing campaign can really go a long way.
It should come as no surprise thatSuper Smash Bros. Brawlwas numero uno on the Wii; the game prints money, don’t cha know? Next up there’sMario Kart, thenWii Play,Wii Fit, and lastly,Guitar Hero III.
Is anyone else getting the feeling that some of the aforementioned games will be pushed down the list after the fall onslaught?
