So GameTrailers TV made its 2009 debut on Spike TV last night, with exclusive for a few games, as you’d expect. Among them the was the above trailer for Activision’sX-Men Origins: Wolverinegame, set to coincide with the May release of the film.

Unfortunately, the entire trailer is cinematics from the game — Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine soaks in a tank, and gets into an altercation and messes s**t up. It looks great, it’s well-paced, and my soft-spot for the Wolverine character has me jazzed… about the movie.

Personally, I find it hard to get excited about a game whose trailer refuses to show me, well, the game. This teaser forX-Men Origins: Wolverinedoes just that, giving barely more information than the title of the game suggests. In fact, I’m just upset about the whole thing now, and I need a time out.

Activision will be at New York Comic Con this week, and so we will. I know for a fact that they will be bringinX-Men Origins: Wolverine, but in what capacity we’ll have access is unknown. If Activision’s press access history suggests anything, it’s likely we’ll just be watching someone play a demo of the game. Which, now that I think about it, is slightly more interesting than a CG trailer.
