I’m just not that into hip-hop in general, but when I hear something as obviously manufactured and simple as the song featured in thisNBA Live 09trailer, it makes me want to hurl. “Champion” by Flipsyde features (and is produced by) Akon, best known forgrinding with an underage girl onstage in Trinidad, and the song would probably have fallen by the wayside (since it’s completely unremarkable) had he not joined in with refrains of “we ready / yes we ready” and some “oh”-ing. Ugh.

But now, EA has decided to use it in the above trailer, so I was forced to listen to the song while watching said video, which caused me so much grief that I was spurred to write the preceding paragraph. Anyway, in videogame-related news, this rather simple “Champions” trailer showcases some gameplay footage. It also features a profile shot of San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, who, coincidentally (or perhaps not so coincidentally), happens to be a three-time NBA champion andcover athlete for the French versionofNBA Live 09.
