You wouldn’t think a NASCAR superstar would be lending his name to a game where your race a tricked out dumpster, but here we are. NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson has teamed up with Isopod Labs forJimmie Johnson’s Anything with an Engine, which sounds like it will live up to its name.
The title will let players race in all kinds of ridiculous vehicles made from common objects, like dumpsters and even lawnmowers. Racers will guide their engine-propelled dumps through over-the-top tracks featuring traps, jumps, and fire. Lots of fire, I hope.
“There are certainly a lot of entertaining racing games,” says Johnson, “but I’ve always felt there was something missing. I wanted to capture that kind of ‘anything goes’ element in racing and make a unique game that appeals to everyone.”
Jimmie Johnson’s Anything with an Engineis scheduled for release in 2011 on “all three major home consoles.”
