Secret of Monkey Island: Special Editionis slated to hit Xbox LIVE and PC (via digital download) this summer. But don’t hold us to that: it seems that one lucky platform is getting LucasArts’ sloppy thirds. Speaking withThe Guardianabout the choice to bring the title to LIVE instead of PlayStation Network or Wiiware, the producer teased the announcement of yet another platform for the remake.
“Well, we never said we wouldn’t be on Wiiware or PSN now did we,” Derrick asked. “The truth is, though, Xbox LIVE offers a great user experience and downloadable service to gamers and we think it’s a great platform to launch the game on. And, of course, the game will also be available on PC via digital download, plus wemayhave another platform announcement to make very, very soon.”
Time to speculate: What platform willSpecial Editionbe announced for — App Store, handheld or another console’s digital download service? We know LucasArtstried to bring a classic remake or two to Apple’s mobile platform before, so the move wouldn’t come as a surprise. Then again,Special Editionisn’t exactly a port of a classic title — it has a new assets and (probably) a beefy file size. Yeah, we’re running in circles. What platform are you guys feeling?
