A freshMagic: The Gatheringgame is releasing on Xbox LIVE Arcade soon.
Earlier today, Wizards of the Coast announced the downloadable titleMagic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkerswould hit Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Marketplace on June 17. The launch will accompany two events — Game with Fame and Game with Developers — that allow early purchasers to play the game against the studio responsible for the title as well asMagic: The Gathering(card game) champions.
Duels of the Planeswalkers wasoriginally announced August 28 last yearand it will be the first official Magic: The Gathering game since the release ofMagic: The Gathering — Battlegroundsin 2003.
According to theDuels of the Planeswalkersofficial Web site, the game will feature eight “unique” player decks, single and multiplayer campaigns, and ranked cooperative play.
As an added bonus, anyone who buys the game can redeem a code for an exclusiveMagic: The Gatheringcard called the Garruk Wildspeaker Planeswalker.
The first screenshots of the game are available in the gallery below. Judging purely from the images, it appears as ifDuels of the Planeswalkersis a digital version of the tabletop game — not a bad option if you’re tired of buying cards or hanging out at the creepy shops that sell them.
