Holy crap, it took a while forthis contestto get a winner, right? Apologies for the delay, but we were waiting for some commentary from Square Enix, who wanted to provide personal insight on the winning entries. The comments come courtesy ofLord of Arcanaproducer, Takamasa Shiba, who was quite impressed with your work!

The winners, personally selected by Shiba, are as follows:

Winners, please use Destructoid’s private messaging system and give me your address so Square Enix can send the prizes along. Also, check out Shiba’s commentary below!

Grand Prize Winner:

VonBouncinSkull — (Skeleton)

This piece left an impression on me because the design seemed to fit the game perfectly.

If you were to ask a Japanese audience to design a demonic image, I don’t think you’d get something quite like this. I selected this piece because it feels like a design generated from a contest held overseas.

First Runner-up

Thaticanyaks — (Eyeball)

At first glance, my initial reaction to this piece was, ‘how would I attack this monster?’  It reminds me of Pollux, a monster that appears inLord of Arcanawith octopus tentacles.  More mysteries slowly unfold the more you look at this design and again I wonder, how would I attack him?

Second Runner-up

famousafterdeath – (Colorful art piece)

This piece evokes a unique modern, pop art tone, which is unusual for the fantasy genre. I chose this piece because it invokes such imagination.
