You might not care much for anime in general, butLegend of the Galactic Heroesis one of the most epic anime of them all. It’s a grand space opera that has been running for nearly twenty-eight years (since 1982), and a powerful sci-fi property in its own right, standing easily among western-produced peers. It featured some of the most gratuitous of gratuitous space battles, with fleet actions involvingtens of thousands of starships. If you consider yourself a sci-fi fan, you should at leasttryto watch it.
And now it’s getting a game. Or rather, anothergame, since Namco Bandai released a real-time strategy adaptation back in 2008. You can check out a trailer for it below the cut. It’s like someone tookHomeworldand increased the ship count by several orders of magnitude, then married the result toSins of a Solar Empire.
Unfortunately, like the show itself, thatgame stands little chance of making it into the English-speaking market. What youmightget is Japanese game company GameOn’splanned browser-based online offering. Concrete details are scant, butjustbecause it’s browser-based doesn’tautomaticallymean it’ll be like,Legend of the Galactic Farmvilleor something.
