Frozen Codebase’s digital download title,Kick-Ass, is set to hit PlayStation Network this week for the nice price of $14.99. The game is based on the film which is based on the comic book which is, I’d hope, not based on some sh*t someone tried to pull in real life.
The game follows the events and characters of the movie closely, and looks to be a top-down beat ’em up with light role-playing game elements. I’m reminded of games likeMarvel Ultimate Alliance, and I guess for good reason — members of the development team had worked with Raven on the Marvel title, and it seems they didn’t have any issue borrowing ideas.
I haven’t seenKick-Assin the theaters yet, but everyone but Roger Ebert tells me that it’s pretty great. “Kick ass,” even. But I have read the comic books, and from what I can tell, they’re pretty similar. Let’s put it this way — I enjoyed the books enough to be interested in checking out the game. If you’ve seen the film, do you feel the same way? Or does a PSN download title with a short development cycle not appeal to you?
