The fifth Blip Festival is finally upon us: the annual-except-for-2010 chiptune music extravaganza begins tonight, May 19, and runs through Saturday, May 21. The festival is a collaboration between8bitpeoplesandThe Tank, and it’s taking place at Eyebeam, which is located in anotoriously un-public-transit-friendly part of Chelsea. (This is the first time since 2007 that the event will be at Eyebeam, which is special for me in particular: Blipfest 2007 was where I first met some Destructoid editors, and got started on the road to becoming one myself!)

Three-day passes have been sold out for a while now, but you can still buy single-day ticketsonlineor at the door (as long as they’re still selling them, of course).Performers include: Dtoid New York’s ownZen Albatross, minusbaby, Anamanaguchi (the band who did the soundtrack forScott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game), Starscream, Nullsleep, Bubblyfish, and Bit Shifter. As always, the chip music will be accompanied by visuals to enhance the trance factor of the experience. The show kicks off at 8 PM each evening and runs past midnight.

Dtoid New York will be in attendance, so come to the show and hang out with folks like me, East Coast Community Managerpower-glove, and erstwhile Destructoid Art DirectorTopher Cantler. We hope to see you there! (Send a PM toDtoid New Yorkto let us know you’re coming.) Head on over to the show’sofficial websitefor more information.
