As promised, id Software has released the iDevice version ofRage— calledRage: Mutant Bash— on the App Store today. You can pick up a standard SD version for 99 cents, or throw down an extra dollar to get the fancy HD version for your iPad or Retina display device.

It’s only two bucks, so I said “What the hell?” and picked it up for my iPad earlier today. The above clips are of me playing the game for the first time, which is why I look like I’m absolutely terrible. (Spoiler: I am.) Even shot off screen, you can tell thatRagelooks stunning on the device. Gameplay is a fairly simple on-rails affair, where you just shoot at targets, getting extra points (or cash, in this instance) for accuracy and such.

Getting through the tutorial I had a bit of fun, even though I was awkardly trying to play around a mini-tripod to shoot the video. Still, because the game is so basic, I can see how it might get a bit old after a few hours… or less. But did I mention that it’s only a dollar or two?

We should have a more detailed review of the game soon, in case that two dollars means the difference between a real meal and ramen this week and you just need to be sure of your purchase. In the meantime, enjoy the video, and if you’ve picked up the game, let us know what you think.
