Sony’s new PSN terms of service doesn’t quite sit right with some gamers, since it asks them to waive their consumer rights in order to use the service. Fortunately, there’s a get-out clause that Sony has deftly provided. It takes a little effort, but you’ll have the thrill of knowing you did somethingAmerican!
In order to opt out of the class action waiver, you need to confirm it with Sony — in writing — within thirty days. You need to include yourname, youraddress, yourPSN account number, and aclear statementthat you do not wish to resolve any potential legal disputes with Sony through an arbitrator.
I’m not a fan of suing anybody, but on prinicpal alone, I am fairly certain I’ll be sending a letter tomorrow, just because I like preserving my rights wherever possible. For many people this isn’t a big deal, and that’s cool, but if youareconcerned, at least Sony provided a way out.
