Rolling Stone’s blog let loose news today that the albums of Jimi Hendrix, the greatest guitarist of all time, will be released as DLC forRock Band. And it’s coming really soon. The first album released will beAxis: Bold as Love, Hendrix’s second studio album, and it comes out next Tuesday, March 30th, to Xbox 360. PSN users will get the album on April 1st.
But that’s apparently not all. Hendrix’s other albums,Are You Experienced?andElectric Ladyland,are due to hit in coming months as well as the posthumously releasedFirst Rays of the Rising Sun. Plus, Rolling Stone reports that a deal has been made to use a character based off Hendrix’s likeness as well as recreating his instruments, so there may be aJimi Hendrix Rock Bandpackage of some kind in the future as well.
Good news for those of us who’ve always wanted a genuine excuse to light our plastic guitars on fire.
