We had a chance to check out the fastest, most powerful (and high-tech) gaming laptop ever: Alienware’s M17x. In fact, we got the full unboxing experience at their offices, which in hindsight was probably in an attempt to make me feel like I was unboxing my very own M17x, making me want one. And it worked. Thanks a lot, Alienware.

Watch on in our video interview as we take this beauty for a spin. Does it sound like I’m talking about a car? Well, it sort of looks like a high-end car in person, like a Ferrari. Alienware said they actually modelled it after cars and motorcycles, giving it that stealth look. The all metal case with no visible screws helps the sexy vehicle-ish factor.

The M17x also includes a backlight keyboard that you can change the colors of on the fly, even combining colors, with their AlienFX software. I asked for purple. They made fun of me. They continued to make fun of me as I playedSolitaireon this monster of a machine. And it runsPeggle, confirmed. Also,Crysis.

Believe it or not, these start at an acceptable $1,799 with a Core 2 Duo inside. Of course, you can pump it up with a Core 2 Extreme Quad and other goodies. I tried tocustomizethe laptop to its maximum (Blu ray, 1TB Raid, HD panel) and came up with a figure of $5,149.

We hope the below video helps, but you’d have to see it in person to appreciate how slick this machine is. Do want.
