Would you pay a subscription fee to have freshGuitar Herocontent delivered to your console? Activision is assuming you would, as it is taking DLC subscriptionsinto considerationfor the future.

Publishing CEO Mike Griffith explained the plan during Activision Blizzard’s Analyst Day:

It looks like Activision has seen the future, and that future is making a shedload of cash off the back of each new release with DLC. ActiBlizz should give Namco a call, they’re all over that sh*t.

“We’ve learned that the consumer still has an insatiable appetite for more,” stated Griffith. “Consumers have downloaded over 20 million individual songs for the franchise, and they still tell us they want more.”

Theydidwant more, Mike. That’s why they all boughtRock Band.

Seriously though, would you pay a yearly subscription fee for moreGuitar Herocontent? If it works out cheaper than individual DLC packs, it might be interesting, but you’ll likely never know what you’ve signed up for until the DLC is released. I wouldn’t want to put down a handful of cash up-front only to be realize I paid for twelve months of Limp Biscuits.
