One of the odder points ofSony’s press conferenceat E3 this year was the unveiling of Polyphany Digital’s newest enhancement forGran Turismo 5 Prologue, called GT TV. Apparently, GT TV and the additional content planned forProloguehas taken the front seat, while GT 5 is almost completely off the radar. In anIGNE3 interview with Polyphony executive Kazunori Yamauchi, it was revealed that we might not seeGran Turismo 5until 2010.

There’s no plans in the works for GT5 yet – that might be 2009, or it might be 2010… But we’re totally focused on getting the updates through for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and that’s all we’re focused on.

Maybe I’m still a little too old school, but I find a game built upon the premise of buying additional content to be a bit disconcerting. I suppose I was under the impression thatProloguewas a short-term placeholder for the real game. To know that I could be asked to keep supportingProloguevia content for the next year or two is not a good thing to be asking, even if its just videos and better physics. How do you guys feel about waiting for the “real” title?
