It’s hardly a shock announcement, but it’s an announcement nonetheless — Sony hasconfirmedthatGod of War IIIis in the works and it will be coming out — gasp — on the PlayStation 3. Along with the announcement came the news thatGod of Wardirector Cory Barlog is leaving Sony.
Despite the loss of Barlog, Sony has assured fans that the series will still remain Godly. “We are confident in theGod of Warteam, as they are an extremely talented group of people that are passionate about the franchise and dedicated to creating even more epic content withGod of War: Chains of Olympusfor the PSP andGod of War IIIfor PS3,” declared a Sony spokesperson.
So, a newGod of Warimbued with the Ray of Blu, minus the original director. WillGod of War IIIgive Sony the current-gen edge it needs, or will it fail to live up to expectations? Time will tell, but speculation will be more fun.
