Early on in my blogging career at Destructoid, I told you about an online golf game calledGimme Golf. At the time, its developers, Skill Technology, were taking sign-ups for a closed beta. According to a press release (after the jump), over 1,000 players tried out the closed session.
Gimme Golfis free to play, but here’s an enticing note: there are weekly drawings for a $100 cash prize, and all you have to do to enter is take part in a multiplayer game! Go give it a shot atgimmegolf.comand check out two screenshots in the gallery.
The independent gaming company, Skill Technology, recently announced that their first online game,Gimme Golf(gimmegolf.com) is now in open beta. This means anyone can log in and start playing the game for free, today.
After a “closed-beta” launch that attracted more than 1,000 players, the Skill Tech team introducedGimme Golfto the world earlier this month. After minimal registration (entering a “nickname”, e-mail address and password), users are sent into a web application, where they’ll have the choice of playing a single-player or multi-player game, by creating a virtual “lobby” and inviting 1-3 more players to join.
While the initial download of the game may take up to 30 minutes, depending on your connection, you’re rewarded with the complete game: three courses of varying difficulty and four avatars with distinct personalities.
Initially, it takes around 45 minutes to complete 18 holes, though more experienced players can usually complete a game in 20 minutes. Your game is automatically saved when you play, allowing you to log out, and back in again whenever you want to complete your game.
