Venga,venga,venga! Today, Ubisoft and Midway dropped a demo for theWheelmanon Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo gives you the taste of two side missions, a story mission, and some of the open-world roaming as Vin Diesel.
Color me impressed. The story mission sets a hell of a frantic tone. A young woman triggers an alarm while robbing a bank and it’s your job to get her to a safe house while fighting off some kind of rival crime organization and the police. All fast-paced, super brutal stuff.
Your car is a glorious weapon. You can slam into rival vehicles with the right analog stick, damaging them until they explode in a fiery ball of shrapnel. Floppy body effects are added for hilarious ejection action. I wonder, though, if Vin Diesel’s character will ever feel remorse for the amount of Barcelonian police blood on his hands by the end of the game.
The side missions are tough. In Made to Order, the objective is to Air Jack (jumping out of your car while it’s moving and hijacking another moving vehicle) target vehicles and return them to a safe house for sale. I was only able to grab one car out of several attempts. The other mode, Street Showdown, is a street race mode where you can use anything at your disposal (slamming, shooting, Focus time attacks) to rid the roads of other contenders.
If you’re anywhere near interested, give the demo a spin. It won’t teach you how to drive fast likeRACE Pro, but it’ll definitely challenge your driving multi-tasking abilities.
