The firstValkyria Chronicles, despite being a critical darling and one of the best games on the PlayStation 3 (then and now, really), wasn’t exactly a commercial success. It sold a paltry 30,000 or so units in its early weeks, hampered by its low profile and relatively niche appeal. It staged a strong comeback, though, thanks in part to a well-timed price drop and – according to Sega – “all that evangelical work by hardcore fans“, who got the word out that the sketchy-looking (literally) anime RPG was a game that no one should miss.

It seems that Sega have taken the lesson that communities matter to mind, and this time they’re working to drum up the excitement – and evangelism – inadvanceof the actual release. At least, that’s the impression their“Valkyria Chronicles IICommunity BLiTZ”event is giving me. You can check out the site for floods of information about the game over the next few days, in addition to giveaways for things like swag and DLC codes for the originalValkyria Chronicles.
