Digital distribution has hit the games industry in a big way over the last few years, but there’s still a good bit of hesitation when it comes to releasing your payment information to the aether; what with networks being hacked and all. So, It should come as no surprise when GameStop reports that, according to their survey, 50% of DLC purchases would not have been made without the existence of “retail merchandising.”

Half of gamers who buy DLC, buy it from retail locations, most likely GameStop. These survey takers have also made it known “that they will buy digital content from GameStop again, due in large part to trade-in credits, loyalty reward points, and the convenience of game discovery.” There’s no arguing with that; I’d trade 6 games in for aCall of Dutymap pack any day.
