Yesterday, Sony threw an event in Tokyo to celebrate the upcoming titleLittleBigPlanet, which will be out in Japan on October 30. The party may be early, but don’t tell the guy dressed up in that giant Sackboy costume. It’s safe to say that Sony is hoping thatLittleBigPlanetwill be a blockbuster title for the PlayStation 3 along the lines of the wildly popularMetal Gear Solid 4.Just last week, Associate Producer for theLittleBigPlanet, Eric Fong, predicted that the game would even be a “hardware seller.”

Like I said last week, I fully expectLBPto be a cute, innovative, and decent game. I appreciate Sackboy’s recent appearance at the Tokyo event, but doesn’t the scale of the costume present some mildly distracting issues with the character? To me, Sackboy looks like a Hostess Ding Dong with a face. I wouldn’t mind eating a chocolate snack cake that size, but it’s fairly unsettling to the eye. I think I would much rather observe the game’s denizens in their much smaller and constructive scale.
