According to Examiner, the latest issue of EGM features an interview with Cliff Blezinski who tells us to look toward GDC 2011 for an announcement of a new IP by Epic Games. Supposedly Eric Holmes, lead designer ofPrototype, is working on the game and although Blezinski came up with the idea for it, it has since become more Holmes’s project.
Clifford went on to say: “Gamers votes with their dollars and they often like established IP, but those IPs came from somewhere, right?Call of Dutywas crafted by the originalMedal of Honorguys.Gears of Warwas crafted by the originalUnreal Tournamentguy. I look forward to creating what’s next.”
Call of Dutywas a bit better thanMedal of Honor: Allied Assault, yet kind of the same.Gears of Warwas completely different fromUnreal Tournament, except for both games being a lot slower thanQuake. So in theory, I guess you could look forward to a reveal about some game, around the start of March next year, that might be better than and different fromPrototype, and potentially slower thanQuake? I thought that game was already calledinFamous2.
Epic’s last couple of new IPs across different platforms have been good or something to look forward to, so we’ll see what they’ll announce when the time comes.
