Earlier this week,American McGee told the worldthat folks who purchasedAlice: Madness Returnsfor consoles would get a copy of the originalAlice. When we asked Electronic Arts for confirmation, we were told “We have no new news to report forAlice: Madness Returns.”
That was two days ago. Today, EA has confirmed and detailed the promotion. Sigh.
So here’s the deal: folks who buyAlice: Madness Returnsfor PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will get a one-time-use “Online Pass” code. This will give them access to the originalAmerican McGee’s Alice, available for the first time on consoles. If you want to purchase the game separately (if you don’t buyMadness Returnsor buy it used, for instance), it’ll run you $9.99 for PS3 or 800 MS Points for 360.
Interestingly, there’s no mention of this promotion for PC users. The game isn’t available right now through any reasonable or legal means. Example: you’re able to buy a new copy on Amazon for $500, or a used copy for $60. We’ve reached out to EA to see what, if any, plans they have for PC users when it comes to getting the original Alice at a reasonable rate.
