While watching this GameTrailers exclusive trailer forPrizefighter, I was trying really hard to forget that the game’s developer, Venom Games, were responsible for last-gen’sRockyandRocky Legends. While not exactly terrible games, both games were competing head-to-head with EA Chicago’sFight Nightgames, and the results weren’t pretty.

But with EA Chicago on the outs, and noofficialword on a newFight Nightgame, 2K’sPrizefighterlooks like it may be the only option to control digital pugilists in the near future. However, it’s impossible to note howPrizefighterdoesn’t look as good asFight Night Round 3, a game that was released on the Xbox 360 in early 2006, not long after the console’s release, when developers were still getting familiar with the hardware.

Don’t get me wrong; the game looks OK in action, and I like the focus on character progression and career building. But come June 2008 when the game hits the Xbox 360, I’m pretty sure gamers are going to be expecting a bit more than videos of a rambling Don King, so I’m hoping they bring strong gameplay to the plate. I’m going to withhold final judgment, though, because I’m still itching to play the game; I can’t be the only one, can I?
