The demo for Codemaster’s latest game,DiRT: Colin McRae Off-Road, was released for Xbox 360 and PC earlier today. So if you’ve got a PC capable of running this game (recommended GeForce 8800),download the demo here. Otherwise, take a short intermission from your ongoingHalo 3beta marathon to see whatDiRTis all about.

I’ve never played aColin McRae Rallygame in my life, so I didn’t really know what to expect when I took the 360 version ofDiRTfor a test drive. Overall, I really enjoyed my time with the game. The graphics are good, the arcade style racing is fun, and purposely crashing through signs and denting guard rails is surprisingly enjoyable.

The only issues I had withDiRTwere the overuse of lighting effects and the fact that the game can drop below 30 frames per second when the action heats up. Although these problems may grind a few gears for some people, the good still outweighs the bad — at least in my case, anyway.
