While it’s not the likeliest place for a first-person shooter to turn up, the Nintendo DS has seen its fair share. Games like Renegade Kid’sDementiumandMoon, evenMetroid Prime: Huntershave all had a decent showing on the dual-screen handheld.

Now there’s another one on the way, and it’s calledC.O.R.E., which is being billed as a classic first person shooter experience. Honestly, the whole things a tad bit generic sounding, with the story having something to do with a top-secret science project taking place in an underground facility. The game also has that generic (not the be confused with “classic”) look that reminds me more of the originalQuakethan anything we’ve seen in the past 10 years, on the DS or otherwise.

The game does support the expected multiplayer modes — deathmatch, capture the flag, and team arena — which can be seen in the video after the jump. The good news is that up to four players can join in using only one DS cart, which is some pretty fancy use of the technology. How the game will control and whether it’ll even be worth controlling it remains to be seen.
