Looks likeSumma was right—Castlevania:Symphony of the Nightwill hit the Xbox Live Arcade next week, as concisely stated by a glowing press release:
Celebrate more than two decades of the Castlevania franchise by reliving (or experiencing for the first time) one of the series’ most highly regarded games. The legendary 2D side-scrolling action adventure game from Konami Digital Entertainment, “Castlevania: Symphony of Night,” will be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 beginning Wednesday, March 21 at 0900 GMT (2 a.m. PDT).
This sidescrolling classic will run you 800 Microsoft Points, and offer 12 achievements and 200 Gamerscore points. You also have the option of playing an “enhanced mode” with improved graphics and audio. Or, if you’re a purist, you can play the original. This is also the first ever full console game* to appear on XBLA, although more will surely follow.
What I’m particularly struck by is that Symphony of the Night is the 12th iteration of theCastlevaniaseries. While its Capcom counterparthasn’t aged quite as well, Konami stillknows a thing or twoabout killing vampires and creepy manors.
