While Sony Online Entertainment was content with producingEverquesttitles for years, Blizzard doesn’t intend on following in their footsteps.

Speaking withWired, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime confirms that their next massively-mulitplayer-online adventure will not be set inWarcraftuniverse.

“We’re not trying to replaceWorld of Warcraftwith this new MMO,” he says. “We’re trying to create a differen massively multiplayer experience, and hopefullyWorld of Warcraftwill still be going strong when that one is released.”

I think it’s pretty safe to say that most people expected Blizzard to venture off in a new direction with their next MMO, but it’s nice to have it confirmed. What it will be is a mystery for now, however we’re holding out hope forLost Vikings WorldofBlackthorne Planet Online. As far asWOWstill going strong, we’re pretty sure this guy will have that covered.
