In case you don’t remember (understandable since it was quite forgettable),Blackwas a sleek and good-looking FPS from Criterion back in the last generation that was lauded for its destructible environments. It was a particularly mediocre affair, but it looked amazing for its time, and apparently Criterioncould be deliveringa sequel.
Criterion’s Web site temporarily displayed a listing forBlack: Second Missionbefore tearing it down like a much lauded destructible environment. The game is allegedly scheduled for a 2009 release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
TheBurnoutseries developer has categorically denied working on aBlacksequel in the past, and 2009 does seem pretty quick. However, we all know that industry people have no problem telling lies, so we needn’t take what Criterion says as gospel. I’ll be pretty interested in a sequel. There is a potentially good series if Criterion can make a newBlackless boring.
