Well, that’s the end of that chapter. Despite recent rumors of a potential revival, Obsidian has confirmed that the long-fabledAliensRPG is officially, well and truly, dead. A number of news outletstried to spark rumorsthat the RPG was still coming, but just as we had anticipated, wires were crossed and it seems that onlyAliens vs Predator,Aliens: Colonial Marinesand the freshly revealed DS game are in development.
“Rumors have circled around a bit regarding the fate of theAliensrole playing game that Obsidian and SEGA had been working on,” states the admin of theofficial Obsidian forums. “Unfortunately, it is true that we are no longer working on the game, and we wanted to finally announce that officially to everyone who has been following its development.”
I believe this is the closest we’ve ever come to a cancellation announcement, and the first time somebody with any authority has confirmed the game’s status. Let’s face it, not many of us held out any hope of it actually coming, but it’s still sad to see the final flickers of life extinguished with such a sorry little whimper.
