Activision Blizzard seems to be on a roll of late — a decimating, murderous roll. Having alreadycut a swathethrough Sierra and given bothGhostbustersandBrutal Legendthe shaft, ActiBlizz has nowcast its bloodythirsty eyetoward developer Radical, axing 100 employees and halving the studio from four teams to only two.
Radical is now responsible only for the development ofPrototypeandCrash Bandicoot. Activision Blizzard said in a statement that it was committed to making the best games possible, and so has decided to “reduce the number of titles” under Radical’s care. Of course, without so much responsibility, ActiBlizzard has decided it doesn’t need quite so many employees, quickly lightening the burden.
Ruthless stuff coming out of Activision recently. Not satisfied merely with taking EA’s crown as the top third party publisher, it seems the company also wants its reputation as the industry’s resident Lucifer as well.
