Check these hot Chrono Trigger figures you can pre-order

At Entertainment Earth, pre-orders are now being taken for this set of fourChrono Triggercollectibles. These staggeringly beautiful diorama pieces recreate artwork from the original game’s manual. The set is going for $40 and will be released in October. I’m not the biggest fan ofChrono Triggerby any stretch of the imagination, but even I’m thinking about how good these would look sitting on my shelf. I’m particularly partial to the scene with Chrono fighting with Magus, which looks gorgeous....

Cliff Bleszinski isn’t worried about the ‘casual’ movement

Microsoft is currently chasing the golden goose that is the so-called “casual” gamer, to the point where the Xbox 360 is about to be marketed as a source of karaoke games and wacky camera antics. A far cry from the “shooterbox” of old. Cliff Bleszinski, creator of one of the Xbox 360’s biggest “hardcore” shooting games, hastalked abouthowGears of War 2fits into MS’ plans. He talked about this in London, where I live, but I did not see him myself because Microsoft’s UK PR is sh*t....

Comments of the week: Fishcats

I told them not to toy with nature. Now look what they have done. Comments of the Week is a feature where we scour the front page, community blogs and forums picking out comments. The ones that make you think, the ones that make you laugh and the ones that make you cry (but also laugh), and consolidate them into an entertaining package for the viewing pleasure of you, the Destructoid community....

Constructoid: Peach and Bayonetta talk women in gaming

Today’s episode of Constructoid is a little different. For starters, it’s longer thanthe twoprevious episodesput together. That’s largely because my two guest panelists (Bayonetta and Princess Peach) are the characters actually on the receiving end of the criticism this time. It’s a full-on dialog here; people bare their souls. It’s intense. I also wanted to shortchange neither the panelists nor the topic. Just like religion, politics, and race, talking about gender can really flip a switch in people....

Cult PC game Neverhood being pitched as a mobile title

Do you remember the claymation adventure game Neverhood? Many of you won’t, but I am willing to bet at least a few of you do. For those people, you’ll be quite excited to learn that it may be coming to your mobile phone in the future. Bazinga Studios is interested in porting the 1996 for the mobile market and is currently in negotiations. Though it won’t say more than that, it seems pretty serious about the endeavor, so hopefully those who missed this cult game can get a second change....

Darksiders patch coming this Wednesday

Darksiderswas a superb game. Not only did it get a 9.0 in its very ownDestructoid review, it was also clinically proven to bebetter thanZelda. However, it was not perfect, especially with regards to some rather shameful screen-tearing issues. Fortunately,Darksidersis going to get just that bit better thanks to Wednesday’s patch! The patch will be for the Xbox 360 version of the game, and will arrive as an automatic update for anybody firing the game up....

David Jaffe flips out about how good God of War III looks, we get excited

When it comes toGod of War III, it doesn’t take much to get us excited. With Sony barely revealing the game at E3 with a CG teaser trailer, we’re already drooling all over ourselves not having seen a single frame of the game in action. But David Jaffe, the designer of the original PlayStation 2 title, has and certainly he liked what he saw. A lot. “I sawGod of War IIIwhen I was in Santa Monica last week,” he writes onhis blog, “I [can’t] and will not give away details, but I think it’s OK for me to say two things — HOLY HOLY HOLY F**KING HELL!...

Dead Island getting a novel, because why not?

Another game, another prequel novel. The unlikely candidate this time is Deep Silver’sDead Island, with a book penned by British fantasy author Mark Morris. Seriously?
