Castlevania: Lords of Shadow PS3 save bug patched

Those of you who have had your game saves mercilessly executed by the PS3 version ofCastlevania: Lords of Shadowcan rage no longer, for a patch has finally been made available. The game will no longer wipe your save files, which was bad news for anybody who slogged through this 20+ hour game. As well as the fix, Konami has also tossed in a few “cosmetic upgrades”, such as scrolling text on loading screens, which should make up for the wait....

CES 2009: Gaming floor video overview

As we told you before, the whole state of the Consumer Electronics Show is pretty sad when it comes to gaming. There are games here, but they’re off site in private meetings. We visited the floor anyway, picking out some video highlights to share with you. It wasn’t all bad, though. We saw some sweet PC gaming gear, some crazy controllers, and a bit of console stuff from Sony and Microsoft. The full-blown PC racing rig mid-video was pretty impressive in person, as was Nvidia’s 3D technology, running modified versions of hits likeMirror’s EdgeandLeft 4 Dead....

CheapyD unboxes WiiFit. Paid about $70 for a scale with some motion sensors

WiiFitcame out in Japan over the weekend and was easily another big seller for Nintendo.CheapyD got his hands onthe bundle and filmed the unboxing for all of the Internets to see. Cheapy will have some feet-on (HAHA! GET IT?!) report on what he thinks ofWiiFiton hisCAGcastthis Wednesday. I have mixed feelings aboutWiiFit. It seems pretty stupid but I can’t past judgment until I get my feet on this. I’m really interested in seeing how Nintendo keeps this alive and not let it die out or go to waste like the Virtual Boy, Super GameBoy, eReader, etc....

Check out Captain America’s new look

Ain’t It Cool News got their hands on Captain America’s new design for the upcomingCaptain Americamovie. How in the hell is this videogame news? Well as you may remember,Sega has exclusive rightsto make games based on Marvel’s movie line-up. So you can expect to be playing as this re-imagined Steve Rogers when the game drops aroundCaptain America’stheatrical release in July 2011. I definitely dig Captain’s new look. I am less than confident that Sega can put out a good movie game adaption though....

Check out Rise of Nightmares’ GameStop pre-order goodies

Sega has just announced the pre-order bonuses that will come with your purchase of Kinect horror gameRise of Nightmaresat GameStop. Your pre-order gets you a Mini Zombie from the game that will interact with the player’s Avatar on the Xbox 360 dashboard, as shown above and in our gallery. I like how un-scary he is. He looks like he just clears the minimum requirements of scary, and that’s only because he has to....

Codemasters CEO’s DRM solution: Sell ‘unfinished’ games

Digital Rights Management is a minefield for game publishers. It seems to be a situation where they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t as they balance negative consumer reaction to anti-piracy measures with the risk of having all their products freely distributed. Codemasters’ CEO Rod Cousens believes there’s a different way. It’s not an unpopular idea to leverage microtransactional content downloads as a revenue stream and to ensure that players are using legitimate copies of the software....

Destructoid interview: Moonpod on life as a modern UK independent

I recently had the opportunity to talk to Nick Tipping ofMoonpod, UK-based developers of recent Destructoid favourite,Mr. Robot. Being a two man independent studio developing and distributing all of their own projects, their experience of working in the industry is a very different one to that of the huge gaming empires who likely brought the majority of your collection into the world. I spoke to Nick about walking away from mainstream development, the strains of competing with global mega-corporations, the payoffs of fighting to keep an independent spirit, and how the on-going global development of gaming looks to an small indie from South Yorkshire....

You’re going to die. You’re going to die a lot inIzuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns. Of course, anyone that’s ever played aroguelikewill be prepared for many deaths, and these gluttons for punishment know the the whole point of this type of game is to have their asses handed to them over and over. But the question is:Izuna 2agoodroguelike? It’s predecessor,Izuna: The Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, wasn’t exactly groundbreaking for the genre, but it did provide plenty of ball-busting fun....

Destructoid review: The Club

Better late than whatever. Many weeks back, I recordeda Rev Rantwherein I toutedThe Clubdemo as a badass mix of old-school and new; the demo took the third-person shooter aspects of modern games and combined it with a hardcore, arcade-style combo system which kept the player in a constant rush to kill more baddies in progressively stylish ways in an effort to get (literally) millions of points. Well, the full game has been out for a week....
