The worst is always the best at E3. Cutting edge technology becomes dated. Memorable demos are quickly forgotten. An impressive trailer means nothing when the game attached comes out and bombs. But CEOs talking about“hot chicks”and“RIIIIIDGE RACER!”live on forever. We love to see E3 disasters – the more ridiculous, the better. Press conference embarrassments and PR nightmares conjure a much-needed laugh among a week of endless caffeine, alcohol, and writing. As long as no one gets hurt, it’s all in good fun....

The Tokyo Game Show may have closed its doors a couple weeks ago, but the Destructoid community has been hard at work ever since,voting for its favorite game. Today, Activision and developer Creat Studios have announced their newest Nintendo DS title,Tony Hawk’s MotionandHue Pixel Painter.The two different games will be provided in one tiny package that provides a fairly unique experience for the consumer. Polyphony Digital’s Kazunori Yamauchi was interviewed by Autoweek onGran Turismo 5, and during that interview he was asked about the nextGran Turismo. And instead of blowing the interviewer off, Yamauchi spoke freely aboutGran Turismo 6! Says Yamauchi when asked about the next GT game: Yes. You won’t have to wait as long as you did forGT5. GT5was basically the creation of a whole new operating system, and developingGT6will be like adding new applications that run on that new operating system....

After returning from my blast of a time at Warped Tour, I filled you guys in onNintendo’s 3DS showingat the festival. Little did I know, Ubisoft was there too. Yes, apparently they were tucked away somewhere in the dark recesses of the blistering, stinky field of tents. Despite having made more laps around the complex than a left-bound stock car, I missed it. Luckily, Ubisoft was nice enough to release a quick reel from the tour now that it’s finally wrapped up....

Well, that was unexpected. Crackdown 2has demonstrated that it doesn’t need aHalobeta in order to sell copies, with the Ruffian-developed sequel debuting at number one in the UK. I thought the game wasn’t very good, but the UK Charts are where not very good games go to be successful, so I suppose it makes sense. There really isn’t anything else notable this week. The latest batch of features for Valve’s line of publishing and development tools, Steamworks, appear to be some of the best yet. If you’re scratching your head at the quote from this post’s title, it’s understandable. In addition to Steamworks’ current set of anti-piracy measures, the new Custom Executable Generation (CEG) technology will sweeten the deal for devs without making consumers feel like they’re renting games and not actually owning the ones they paid for....

Platinum Games’ upcoming balls-mental shooter Vanquish has a special edition on the cards, which includes a little 7″ figure of protagonist Sam Gideon. So far, the special edition has only been confirmed for the United Kingdom, on sale for £54.95 if you buy through online retailerZavvi. Hopefully those of us in North America and around the world will have a special edition to look forward to as well. Just in case you missed the news, this game is going to be awesome and you’ll probably really want it....
