Another TimeSplitters 4 rumor for the pile

We’ve been hearingTimeSplitters 4rumors dating back to 2007, so don’t get too hyped about these most recent rumblings. They’re coming fromOfficial PlayStation Magazine UK‘s “Rumor Machine” portion of the mag (viaJoystiq), hinting that a reveal may be just around the corner. “Gun-wielding monkeys are finally making a comeback!” it says, “A fourth Timesplitters title is to be announced soon.” Great news if true, but again, let’s check our expectations accordingly....

Any song you want, so long as it’s metal

Now I’m not sayingGuitar Hero 2is bad — far from it. The practice mode is a welcome change, the co-op (while I haven’t gotten to try it out yet) seems fun as all hell, and playing three note chords feels strangely awesome to me.The problem is the songs. Music games likeGuitar Herolive and die by the quality of their soundtrack, which is why the first game sold so damn well. It had its fair share of hardcore death metal, but it also interspersed pop, country, and funk songs that most people were pretty familiar with....

As Dane Cook says, sometimes I just want to dance

World of Warcraft isgood for a few things, I admit. You can level up fairly quickly and see some pretty artistic stuff around the living world and even better, you can make friends along the way. But, perhaps my favorite aspects in the game are the dance animations. And hell, they’re your favorite too, right Dane Cook?

Bayonetta dev: To one woman, all other women are enemies

[Note:This post originally had the line” ‘All Women are scary’. Wow.’ ” right after Kamiya-san’s quote. A few readers pointed out that they thought it looked like I was trying to misquote Kamiya-san (which was not my intention), so I’ve taken that part out. Sorry for the confusion.] Shortly afterBayonettawas released, I started seeing a bunch of articles and blogs pop up stating that Bayonetta was an awesome feminist role model; a powerful woman who was comfortable using her sexuality to get what she wanted....

Best Wii commercial yet: Super Mario Galaxy 2

I didn’t need a 30-second video to make me want Super Mario Galaxy 2, but somehow this one makes me want it even more. This has to be the best Wii commercial I’ve ever seen! It’s like a cross between a holiday season Coca-Cola commercial and an ad for Disney’s theme parks. And I like both of those things, so imagine how much I’m digging Mario flying around on Yoshi’s back through time and space....

BioShock 2 loses the tagline, Sea of Dreams is no more

I remember back in October 2008 when wefirst discovered theSea of Dreamstrailer on the PS3 version ofBioShock. Even scared, I was a bit hopeful that the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time could possibly be something I might enjoy playing. Of course, since then we’ve heard word of everythingfrom co-op to Russians, and my hopes for the title to be remotely decent have ventured into the dirt....

Bit.Trip SPERM confirmed

OK, it’s a little late, but here’s a sneak preview of last week’sBit Transmission with Alex Neusefrom Gaijin Games. Alex was willing to divulge a lot of crazy stuff on the show, but my favorite bit was when he confirmed that my theory about the meaning of theBit.Tripgames was at least somewhat accurate. I’ve long thought that theBit.Tripseries depicts the formation of a human life, including the part with the sperm and the egg....

Blizzard will ‘definitely’ make a console game

Blizzard is undoubtedly the king of the PC gaming world, with titles likeWorld of WarcraftandStarcraftremaining untouched successes. The RPG and strategy specialist doesn’t want to just rule the PC world, however, as it has stated that console games will “definitely” be worked on in the future. “Some real-time strategy games have tried to happen on the console,”explains director J. Allen Brack. “Some of those have been successful, but overall, our experience is that it’s going to be a better game on the PC, ergo it’s developed on the PC....

Brochure reveals more info on This is Vegas’ fictional Las Vegas

Sitting in my mailbox this morning was a suspicious, plain white envelope which contained a “This is Vegas 2008 Tourist Guide.” Courtesy of Midway, the fold-out brochure and map reveals a bit more about the world and tone of therecentlyannouncedopen-world title,This Is Vegas. The map reveals that the game’s world will not be a one-for-one of real world Las Vegas, but rather a reasonable facsimile that takes generous creative liberties (much like Rockstar’s Liberty City to New York City)....
