New screenshots of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

For reasons which I can only speculate upon, I am incapable of spelling “Amalur” correctly on the first attempt. My gut instinct is to type “Alamur,” which I think we can all agree just rolls off of the tongue better. But I’m not Curt Schilling and I don’t get to dictate what his company calls their product. It’sKingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and that’s just the way it is. But enough of my troubles spelling the names of fictional kingdoms....

New Zeno Clash screens (it’s that game you’ve all forgotten about)

RememberZeno Clash? Of course you don’t, which is why I am here to refresh your memory. A while agoI posted a teaser trailerfor this bizarre FPS, and today developer ACE Team contacted us with a few fresh screenshots. This game uses the Source Engine, and it can’t be denied that the graphics show it. However, I have always believed that art direction is more impressive than sheer graphical power, andZeno Clashhas the former in spades....

Nidhogg releases to Winnitron Indie Arcade machines

The Winnitron Indie Arcade Game Network has just added another feather to its cap as Mark Essen’sNidhogghas been announced as available on allWinnitron Indie Arcademachines this weekend. The network of free-to-play machines featuring more than a dozen games from independent developers is rapidly growing, with cabinets in Canada, Australia, the Netherlands and the very first Winnitron in the United States which recently powered on at NYU’s Game Center. If you think it sucks that all of these cool indie games are only available on less than half a dozen machines in the world, there is something you’re able to do about that....

Nobody told me about Jeklynn Heights, now I’m telling you

I hadn’t heard aboutJeklynn Heightsuntil I sawthis post on Rock, Paper, Shotgunthis morning. We’ve never posted about this indie PC game on Destructoid, and I take that as a shameful failure, because it looks incredibly interesting. Jeklynn Heightsis a “dark fairytale multiplayer game” that takes place in the eponymous town. It incorporates a wide variety of genres, including roleplaying, first-person and third-person combat. Two teams fight over the “Orb of Egression” which will allow them to escape the eponymous town....

Oh look, a wild ‘Halo 5’ logo appears!

Channel 4 News’ Benjamin Cohen recently got a rare, inside look at Microsoft’s Redmond, Washington offices. Part of that access including getting a demo of a voice- and motion-controlled living space. Lucky him! And that’s whereHalo 5, of all things, popped up in the unlikeliest of places. Snuggled up beside something aboutProject Gotham Racingand “Grandma’s Room,” you’ll spot an “Inside Halo 5” selection along with a logo. Oh man, it’s our first look atHalo 5, everyone!...

Oh yes, I need this Poseable Rockman

Japanese company Kotobukiya is showing off their prototype of a poseable Rockman, and now that I’ve seen it I can’t stop thinking about it. How can I get one?! Perfect in detail and style, this Rockman has interchangable parts including 3 faces, two paris of hands, a Rock Buster, pellet shot and more. I would always having him holding the energy tank, though. This Rockman looks to be one of those that you’ll never want to put down....

Old people game? Unlikely

It’s all over this dammed Interblogweb device that one in seven people over the age of a hundred have played video games. Apparently this is exciting news, but let’s face it, it’s really not, for two reasons: One: Video games have been around since prehistory. Sega controllers were used to carve pictures of antelope into cave walls back in the days where people were still chewing hides to make them soft and supple for wearing....

P.E.I. goes to bat for Longtail Studios with tax breaks

Two Canadian provinces, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, have agreed to a bare-knuckle brawl to the death, both hoping to curry the favor of Longtail Studios, an iPhone and Wii developer based in New York. Twenty-three Longtail employees currently work in a Charlottetown, P.E.I. office, but they were offered the chance to pack up and move to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Ok, the bare-knuckle boxing bit may bit something of a hyperbole, but it’s a lot more interesting than P....

PAX 08: A taste of Ken Levine’s opening keynote

I went into this keynote thinking Ken Levine was the bee’s knees, but that was just based on my all encompassing love for his work in the gaming industry. I can say that after having listened to his heartfelt and hilarious opening keynote today that he is without a doubt ten times cooler than I thought he was, and a guy I would totally love to throw down some twenty sided dice with....

PC version of Saw will only be distributed digitally

Sorry, but ever since I saw thisancient video, I’ve never been able to look at Jigsaw’s little puppet guy with a straight face. This screenshot from theSawvideogame is not an exception. Those craving for some hot dipping-your-hand-in-syringe-filled-toilets action on the PC are going to have to look to Steam, as it’ll be the only place to getSawin North America. Sorry to disappoint, but there won’t be a retail PC version of the game....

Pittsburgh Wii odds @ 7PM: Maybe 20% [Update 1]

I Just ran up a car load of people to the Wal-mart, Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City scene outside of downtown Pittsburgh at the Robinson Mall area, knowing I had all of Pittsburgh gamers as my enemies, and at 3 p.m. our group was 42, 43, and 44 in the waiting lines at Wal-mart. The other stores were just as dismal, and usingWiiSeeker, Wal-mart most likely only has a total of 53 Wiis in our area....
