Electronic Arts kicked off Gamescom with a presser full of hype and marketing, like any good presser should. Among the festivities was a bit of a boast aboutBrütal Legenddefeating the “huge ugly monster” that was Activision and making its date with Rocktober. There was also a brand new trailer. The trailer shows off plenty of gameplay, most notably the multiplayer combat that we’ve been hearing about. I haven’t thought once aboutPlayStation Homesince I played it the one and only time, but I’m sure other gamers are still having fun with it. No, really, someone plays it. I swear. Anyway, Sony’s US director for PlayStation Home, Jack Buser, spoke today at GDC in regards to Home’s future.GamesIndustry.bizreports that Busey announced Home will be getting three new social spaces per month in the future. You remember yesterday when we announced that Sony had introducedonenot-quite-awful ideafor the PSPgo? Well, this is Sony we’re talking about, so I guess I was naive to think it would last. The PSPgo Rewards scheme, where PSP upgraders can download three free games, is for Europe only. That’s right, North American users will NOT get free games. This is amazing. PSPgo Rewards was perhaps the only PR move Sony had done right since this disaster was announced, and they’ve managed to stuff even that up....

One of the few action-RPGs that really caught our eye at Destructoid this year wasKingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Where most games of this genre focus on heavy action and light role-playing elements or heavy role-playing with a somewhat broken combat system,Reckoningseemed like a title that didn’t just sound great as a concept, but looked good to boot. Whereas potential for a game is one thing, being able to give it a go yourself and seeing if it passes the test of a set of critical eyes is another thing altogether....

As is the norm nowadays when Microsoft tries to rush something new out the door, we inevitably become beta testers. Such is the case with the slick-looking wireless headset for the Xbox 360 that recently became available. The problem: Most of us who own it are having syncing issues and problems with people on the other end hearing us. Our only hope: Microsoft now knows about it and is hopefully on the case....

EA’s CEO, John Riccitiello, has come to be known for a mix of confidence and humility that has even endeared him to some of themost cynical gamersout there. I’ve been playing a preview build of the Xbox 360 version ofGhostbustersfor a few days now, and it not anything like what’s shown in the trailer after the jump. Oh, this is for the Nintendo DS version of the game? My bad. Built from the ground up for the DS by Red Fly Studio, for some reason I’m reminded ofGrand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Just, you know, with more ghosts instead of pedestrians and the Stay Puft Marshmallow man instead of the Triad....

Developer diaries really are arrogant. It’s like nobody asked the developers to make a documentary, so the developers made it themselves.
